for Notice to Dog Owners:
- Obtain
the correct address where dog(s) reside(s).
- Obtain
the name of the owner of the property where the dog resides.
You can find out information about ownership by looking it up on the
website www.KnowX.com.
- Complete
the Notice to Dog Owner form.
There is a sample completed form for your reference.
- Send
copies of the notice to the following persons (all, if possible, or as many
as you can:
- The
resident of the property
- The
owner of the property, if different from the resident
- The
local animal control officer/department
- For
our “Dog Database”

We have tried to set
up a long-term approach to assist NFBC members/guests in reporting unleashed
dogs that are a hazard to cyclists. By
documenting and warning dog owners and dog control officers, we might be able to
reduce the number of incidents and alert dog owners of their responsibilities.
At the very least, if
several warnings are issued to the same dog owners and/or address, we will have
a database to refer to should the worst case scenario (a dog/bike accident)
occur. A record of previous
warnings could assist the injured cyclist should a lawsuit arise.
